Dr. Martin Russell, Associate Director of Diaspora Matters, was thrilled to spend a few days in Malawi recently to finalize the completion of the Malawi Diaspora Engagement Policy. Facilitated through the EU funded MIEUX project, implemented by the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), the visit included a ceremonial handover of the policy to the Ministry for Foreign Co-operation and Development in association with the EU delegation to Malawi. Martin and colleague, Albert Tucker, ran extensive workshops in areas such as leadership and networking.
Martin and all at Diaspora Matters would like to extend warm thanks to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Ireland for all their support over this 18 month project. In particular, a warm word of thanks to Ambassador Aine Hearns and all the staff at the Irish Embassy in Malawi. We would also like to thank ICMPD and, in particular, project officers Akram Mukhamatkulov and Stephanie Berry for their help and support throughout the project.
Stay tuned to the DM website in coming weeks for a copy of the policy.
